ABOUT US

John and Lesley founded Waymakers Mission Africa in 1997. After many years in the private sector, John responded to God’s call into cross-cultural missions, something that had long been part of his life and heart. Waymakers Mission Zambia was later established and registered as a non-profit organization.

In the early years, John ministered across Africa, from Cape Town to South Sudan, serving alongside the body of Christ wherever the need was greatest. The focus has consistently been on strengthening the church in remote and war-torn regions, coming alongside local believers to encourage, equip and support the work God is already doing.

Today, John operates in an advisory capacity to Waymakers Missions Africa and Waymakers Missions Zambia, providing oversight in projects and development, while continuing to support and strengthen the indigenous church through partnership, guidance and mentorship.

Our focus, in partnership with In Touch Missions International and Harvester's Ministries, is on disciple-making and rapid church planting, working alongside the indigenous church to establish strong, Biblical grounded communities of faith. In response to practical needs in remote areas, we also support freshwater borehole projects, helping bring sustainable access to clean water while demonstrating Christ’s love in word and deed.
