Michael Watson and Pastor Davy travelled across the Mighty Zambezi River (via dug out canoes) on Sunday 27 March to preach at a youth gathering that was taking place in Kambuya village on the remote West Bank plains. The gathering was with a youth group from the Churches of Nazerene which Pastor Davy oversees. (more…)
Every Friday antenatal sessions are hosted at the maternity clinic in Chilombo, Angola. Clients come from the local community and beyond. The midwives continue to do their best, with minimal medical equipment and supplies. Such a facility is a new and unique service in our area and has the potential to serve and transform our community. (more…)
The men were en route to their next borehole site visit on the West Bank Plains, driving through a field with long grass on either side of the vehicle, when out of the corner of John's eye he saw an elderly woman. She was hunched over with all her belongings on her back, seeking help. Michael, who was driving the vehicle at the time, brought them to a halt to see if they could assist the lady. With the help of their interpreter, Joseph, they learnt that this elderly woman was chased away from her son's home (not her biological son) and was trying to make her way home.. (more…)
Two Months ago, Peter embarked on his journey back to his home village in Kasupa, Angola, where he and his family will reside and trust God for the advancement of His Kingdom in their local area. On his journey Peter has encountered many little villages and shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with them. What is incredible about Peter's journey is how we can see that God's intention is not only to make sure Peter and the team get home safely, but for God to encounter His children along the way. (more…)
Pastor Samusole Kayombo Collins was one of Johan's right hand men at the mission base in Chavuma, Zambia. He was a family man who loved his wife and children dearly and loved the Lord - working and assisting in extending God’s kingdom here on earth. He dedicated his time and resources to shepherd his congregation in truth and love and to extend the Love of God into the villages in his area. (more…)
Peter Kambulo - also known as Peter "Kasupa" as he now resides in Kasupa village - is an incredibly hard-working husband, father, evangelist and now, with God's Grace and Power, a church planter. Peter is relocating from Chavuma, Zambia to Kasupa, Angola where he has been working for quite some time in bringing the Gospel to the people there. Peter has recently been spending time in Chavuma to receive training as a hub leader with other local leaders and pastors. Hub leaders have a focused vision to plant and govern churches in their local area - over and above sharing the Good news of Christ with the people on the plains. (more…)
As missionaries, set out to saturate the North-Western Province of Zambia with the Gospel, our priority is always to share the Good news of Christ with those in the towns and villages and to see many souls won over for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our mission in Zambia is also to serve the communities practically - as we did last year when the mighty Zambezi flooded, we assisted many individuals and families in crossing the river by using canoes and boats as one could not reach their destination safely without transport assistance. The Zambezi River is a treacherous landscape that holds many dangerous animals and reptiles such as crocodiles and hippos and therefore ensuring the safety of the kind and loving Luvale People is of utmost importance to us. (more…)
Peter is one of our Hub Leaders reaching across the Zambian border into Angola who has recently endured much for the sake of the Gospel. Along with his two canoes, materials and food supplies Peter was taken across the border to continue with his mission. (more…)
I always look forward to our Year End Gatherings and this year was no exception! We had a wonderful time around the braai, sharing feedback, introducing new members to our team and just enjoying the privilege of spending time together! (more…)
This incredible initiative, kindly sponsored by ITMI -USA, kicked off last week. A total of 346 people from 13 villages received food parcels consisting of 25kg Breakfast Meal, 2kg Sugar, Oil and salt. Some of these folk live in extreme poverty. No clinic. No school. No borehole for fresh and clean water supply. (more…)
It was a great honor for me to recently be presented with the President's Insignia of Recognition, at State House in Lusaka on 24 October 2020. The President's Insignia of Recognition is awarded to persons who have contributed to the well being of their communities, through their inventiveness and initiative. (more…)
Today, we made our own bit of history as the rain poured down: 4 of our local key leaders had their very first Zoom experience, and they loved it! (more…)
The rainy season in the North West Province of Zambia starts in December and ends around mid-April. The wetlands dry up fairly quickly, and by June many of the village folk (who 'migrated' to dry land for the rainy season) return to their homes. To reach them, we are dependent on the pontoon/ferry that is only operational from July, when the turbulent Zambezi River has eased up. (more…)
A little over a year ago, we were sitting in ashes. Very literally sitting in ashes. Speechless at the devastation that the raging fire caused, sweeping through our Mission Home. Only one of the four porcelain plates clung stubbornly the wall, as if to ensure we didn't miss the message on it: “Live each day as if it were your last”. (more…)
Today, I vividly remembered a moment in time - in those youthful days - when I used to make homemade cars with friends and cousins, and how much fun it was. Nowadays, I have advanced to google mechanic, fixing trailers and cars. Not quite as much fun! (more…)
The building of our Waymakers Alpha Camp is creating job opportunities and people’s self worth is a Kingdom of God principle. I had to do 2 trips there today, to deliver perlins (roof truss planks) and I was in tears as Jonny shared how blessed they all are. So many are receiving out of this project - earning a livelihood - from the grass cutters, to the ox cart transporters, to the grass binders, to the roofing team! (more…)
Luke 15 v 10: “.... there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” I would like to think that all of Heaven rejoices too, when our Hub Leaders gather together in unity and purpose. Keen to be equipped. To reach the lost and weary souls, hopeless in the clutches of the enemy. Today, was such a day. Sixteen Hub Leaders gathered here in our main house area, which is still under construction - note all the scaffolding! (more…)
At the rise of dawn, a group of envangelists departed by boat from our Ngandu basecamp, to Mavilli village for training and outreach. (more…)
We found him at the new Waymakers-Alpha campsite at Mayina Village, laboring away. He had walked 9km (5.5 miles) in the week to get his phone cards registered for the mobile phones we gave him, resulting in a badly swollen foot. But he was a man true to his word, and a swollen foot wouldn't stop him. (more…)
